Ever have someone tell you they enjoy reading cookbooks? Next time, before you yell “Get a life!” make sure they aren’t talking about this book. It is a gem. Great pop pictures, funny quotes (“I went to a restaurant that serves ‘Breakfast at any time.’ So I ordered French Toast during the Renaissance.”-Steven Wright.) glossies of mouth-watering food and recipes for such things as Berry Stuffed French Toast Souffle and Chunky White Chocolate Cranberry cookies that will get you to the refrigerator whether or not you ever make anything.

I, myself am now munching on Honey-Baked Coconut Shrimp from the cover, but my favorite features include: Whoopsie (Recipes for Disaster—when you misread tablespoon for teaspoon making soup, need to extinguish too-spicy salsa, overcook vegetables, or burn the cookies), unDress Me (Eye-popping Salads) and Top Ten (Movies to Satisfy Your Appetite, Songs to Make You Hungry and Dust-collectors in the Kitchen). Bite Me is guaranteed fun for the hip. Let me end with a little scrap of food wisdom by Rosanne’s TV husband: “Chili represents your three stages of matter: solid, liquid and eventually gas.” Bon Appétit!
