So how do you take a book of someone telling you how to lead your life in the form of a comic? At first, not too seriously. Oh there are some clever images (such as the blowhard Larry Winget in the guise of a Captain Marvel super hero that diffuses some of the edge of what he’s saying). And the presentation moves. Too often self-help books labor their points. This one doesn’t. But after it is all over its contents are pretty easy to dismiss.
I think the message is pretty well captured in the title, but I love it when Winget says, “If the only thing that makes you special is that you’re a miserable failure. It’s your fault!” Some of his opinions should be aired, such as, if the law required people to live together for a year before they got married, the divorce rate in American would be cut in half, and purple hair grows out so pick battles with your kids carefully and “Rich makes up for a lot of ugly.” Nice price, great illustrations and a book that will burn quickly in the fireplace after your done.
